Conditions of Compost Storage
The moisture content of composted products has a greater impact on product quality during storage. When the moisture content increases, it is likely to meet the moisture requirements of microbial fermentation, thereby stimulating the activity of microorganisms, enabling the material to continue fermenting to generate heat, and at the same time consuming organic matter, reducing the fertilizer efficiency of compost products. In addition, the increase in moisture content will also lead to the compost product clumps, causing trouble for the user to apply.
As a storage facility, it should first ensure that it can meet the requirements of rainproof. This requires that during construction, the storage facilities should be planned in a high level area to prevent rainwater from pouring into the warehouse when the rainfall is large. At the same time, full consideration is given to the leakage prevention and shading of the roof. When storing bulk powder products, the air humidity should not exceed 30%. The packaged products should be protected from exposure to sunlight during storage to avoid rapid aging of the package.
Some composting plants store composted products in the open air due to the low storage capacity in the warehouse, which is a very unreasonable way. It is easy to expose the product to rain and sunlight when it is stored in the open air. Even if the plastic sheet is used to prevent rain, the plastic sheet is easy to be damaged and leaked. At the same time, the plastic sheet can only cover the top of the product, and the part in contact with the ground will still be damp, especially for bulk powder products, which have a large surface area.
